Jose Ramos is the Dodgers’ number 16 prospect on their top 30 list. The right-handed outfielder recently graduated to the top 30 after the big trade and DJ Peters being claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers. Jose currently stands 6’1 weighing 200 pounds plays right field for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. Ramos was an international free agent signing in 2018 out of Panama.
Earlier this season, he played in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League where he just mashed and graduated after playing only 3 weeks. He was hitting .383 with 3 homeruns and 15 RBIs. James had an OPS (On-Base Plus Slugging) of 1.089, which is in elite territory. With the Dodgers low-A affiliate Quakes, he is hitting .422 with 2 homeruns and 9 RBIs. Ramos has an insane OPS of 1.246; a great sign considering he is hitting extremely well against tougher pitching.
I think Jose Ramos is a great-looking prospect. When he first signed with the Dodgers in 2018, he was 5’11 and weighed only 150 pounds. Seeing him grow and gain 50 pounds of good weight shows the determination necessary to be a great player. Jose shows excellent raw power that can develop more as he matures. As a 20-year-old, he has good control of the strike zone and can read breaking balls well. He is an average runner but fast enough to play center field if needed. His arm is one of the strongest arms in the Dodgers Farm System.
Jose Ramos is expected to be promoted to MLB in the year 2024. This is his first year playing baseball in the US, so we only have a small sample size to look at thus far. If he can keep pace with the pitching as he gets promoted, he will be an outstanding MLB player for the Dodgers in 2024.
