Los Angeles Dodgers drafted Maddux Bruns as the 29th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft. Maddux is a high school left-handed pitcher out of UMS-Wright Prep School in Alabama. He is currently committed to Mississippi State College. The Dodgers have a bad taste in their mouth with 1st round picks that are committed to Mississippi State. J.T. Ginn was also drafted by the Dodgers in the first round in 2018 but stayed committed to Mississippi State and was drafted in the second round to the New York Mets last year.
Baseball America ranked Maddux Bruns as the 48th best overall prospect in the draft. He is a big guy standing at 6’2 with room to grow as a 19-year-old. Bruns throws hard reaching 97 MPH and has the same build as Max Fried did when he was drafted. I don’t know much about the players in these drafts besides the top guys but I was wondering why we didn’t go after a guy like Ty Madden from Texas University. He was ranked 9th best overall prospect but came falling down the board for some reason. He ended up going three picks later by the Detroit Tigers so id like to see how their careers look in 5 years.
